Health is so much more than just being symptom free. I believe high-level wellness is within almost everyone’s reach with the right guidance. After a person’s immediate pain or symptoms have been eliminated, my attention becomes focused on helping you attain an increased level of wellness, which means increased resistance to disease, slower aging, greater energy, better sleep, becoming emotionally and physically hardy, which leads to a more positive attitude, and improved relationships. If you think about it, wellness is a lot more than just not being sick. It takes into account all aspects of your life, including body, mind, and spirit.

Kanata Chiropractor<br>Dr Michael GibsonI was very fortunate to have been exposed to a wellness concept early in life. I believe it changed my life and moved me to where I am today.

I grew up in Kanata and attended Earl of March High School. I studied Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, and played on the Western Mustangs hockey team. While playing for the Mustangs I realized how important a role my overall health and fitness played in determining my performance. I wasn’t the most talented player on the team but believe I was able to compete because of my dedication to my health and fitness. This awareness created a craving to learn everything I could about the link between health and peak performance.

The search took me to Atlanta, Georgia, where I discovered Life University. It has the biggest chiropractic college in the world, they had a “peak performance” masters program, they offered me a scholarship to play hockey for their intercollegiate team, and the temperature rarely dipped below zero degrees! It was perfect!

I went for the hockey, the “year round” golf, and the chance at a career where I could "walk my talk".

It is important to me not to just preach good health habits to my patients, but to practice them as well. Good health has many dimensions; it is important to nourish your body, challenge your mind, and rest yourself to increase your lifespan. Believe me, I know how hard it is to resist dark chocolate (sometimes, ok often, I don't). Presently, my health habits include weekly adjustments, organic food, resistance training, hockey, ultimate frisbee, squash, walking with Hudson (my chocolate lab), and meditation (the most challenging for me). Most importantly, I strive to find balance in my life.

After completing my studies, and fighting the urge to stay in the sunny south, I decided that Kanata’s young, health conscious, and very active community would be a perfect fit for me, my philosophy, and my specialties. Give our Kanata office a call or email me with the link below. I look forward to meeting you, and helping you to Move Well! Feel Well! Be Well!
